Pea Patch Island
Delaware City, DE 19706
Built in 1859 Fort Delaware was a fortress for the captured Confederates of the civil war. Built to protect the port of Wilmington as well as Philadelphia it is now a State Park and Museum. Located on a tiny island
known as Pea Patch Island, it is an amazing fact that it was once occupied by over 16,000 people and prisoners.
It is said that there are quite a few spirits that roam this old fort such as the woman who is said to have been a cook for the long gone officers. It appears (no pun intended) that she will show herself as a full
apparition in period dress doing cooking tasks.
