From August through September of 1951 the US Air Force investigated one of the first great UFO cases in the United States. At 9pm on August 25th three Professors from what is now known as Texas Tech University were relaxing at one of the professors homes when a series of lights flew above them. Moving N to S at a very high rate of speed and the brightness of a star only larger in diameter they flew in a perfect almost semi circle pattern which contained approx 20 – 30 lights. Over a three week period these lights were observed by these men over 12 times. Over the course of two months over 100 people all around the Lubbock area observed and also reported seeing these strange lights.
On the evening of 31 August 1951 at about 11:30PM, a college freshman named Carl Hart observed a flight pass over his home. It is said two more flights of objects allegedly also occurred in which he photographed. These are now known as the famous Carl Hart Photographs.
It was observed that there was no sound that could be attributed to the objects and the color of the lights was bluish green in tone. It was also stated the first two flights observed were a semi-circle of lights but in the subsequent flight there was no orderly arrangement. The objects did not gradually come into view as would an aircraft that was upon approach, and neither did it gradually disappear. It was also noted there was no apparent change in size as any of the objects passed overhead.
Carl started watching the skies when word was spread about the college professors sightings in the local Lubbock Newspaper “The Avalanche”. After capturing his series of photos Carl, he took the film to a friend at a photo lab so that he could develop it. The Avalanche learned of the pictures when a photographer who did some work for the newspaper called to say that Hart had just been there developing some film. He thought Harris might be interested, and Harris suggested that Hart bring the negatives to the office. This was indeed the turning point in bringing these sightings to the forefront.
Carl Hart never copyrighted his photographs in fear some may think they were a fake and the reporter at the Avalanche had accused him of hoaxing the whole incident and proceeded to tell Carl the consequences of fraud. A short time later Carl decide to send the photos out over the wire. Though many have tried to duplicate the photos at that time no one could ever debunk them.
Upon learning of the photographs, the US military spent a great deal of time trying to come up with some kind of explanation. Officers came in from Reese Air Force Base as well as Wright-Patterson located in Dayton, Ohio. Lt. Edward J. Ruppelt even made a personal trip to Lubbock to investigate these lights and to interview Carl Hart as well as some of the others who had claimed the sightings.
Ruppelt’s was not the last and only interview by the US military. On December 2 Hart was questioned again. According to the OSI report, He was interviewed in private and asked for a written statement. Evidently the military hoped to break his story, which was a continuing obstacle to a bird explanation that they had come up with, but if a professional photographer could not get a picture of birds at night (which they had tried), how had an amateur done it? The obvious answer was that Hart had not photographed birds. If so, could that mean the objects he had photographed be unidentified flying objects.
The US Military’s report concludes that: birds, with street lights reflecting from them, were the probable cause of these sightings. The angular velocity of 30 degrees per second seems rather high for birds during migratory flights. It is probable that the angular velocity was less. In all instances the witnesses were located in an area where their eyes were dark-adapted, thus making the objects appear brighter. The kind of birds responsible for this sighting is not known, but it is highly probable that they were ducks or plover. Since plovers do not usually fly in formations of more than six or seven, ducks seem more probable.
There are, however, no migratory birds in the Lubbock area at that time of year. According to Loren Smith of Texas Tech, ducks do fly in V -formations in the area in late August. The glossy ibis, for example, visits the area, but it has no white with which to reflect the streetlights. Therefore the bird explanation does not work. In fact, the photographs taken by Hart refute this theory, but that seemed to made no difference. And it also made no difference that a professional photographer, when he attempted to photograph a flight of ducks at night, could not do so. Project Blue Book lists the case as solved by the birds.
Hart continues to deny that the pictures were faked. No one has ever presented any evidence to support this accusation, nor has anyone explained how they could have been faked. Hart himself has no explanation. When asked if he himself believes in flying saucers, he response was:
“I don’t particularly disbelieve. I think I’m kind of open-minded on that. If one would show up some place else here, I think I’d accept it.” When asked if he knew what the lights were, he simply stated “I really don’t.”…

An extraordinary event in 1967 would practically put the small fishing village of Shag Harbor on the map. Located at the southern tip of Nova Scotia, this rural community would be host to one of the best documented UFO events of the past 40 years.
Named after the “shag,” a bird of the cormorant family, the harbor was literally left off most maps of the time, but that would be changed once and for all.
The tiny fishing community has always had its stories… stories of giant sea serpents, man-eating squid, and ghost ships. The list of local color would see one more addition to its list: a story of a visit of a mysterious flying craft of unknown origin. This craft would visit the waters of Shag Harbor, permanently stamping the village’s name in the public eye.
The first indication of this mysterious occurrence would come from local residents who noticed strange orange lights in the sky on the night of October 4, 1967. Most witnesses agreed that there were four orange lights that evening. Five teenagers watched these lights flash in sequence, and then suddenly dive in a 45 degree angle toward the water’s surface. The witnesses were surprised that the lights did not dive into the water, but seemed to float on the water, approximately one-half mile from the shore.
Witnesses at first thought they were watching a tragic airplane crash, and quickly reported as much to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, which was located at Barrington Passage. Coincidently, RCMP Constable Ron Pound had already witnessed the strange lights himself as he drove down Highway 3 in route to Shag Harbor. Pound felt that he was seeing 4 lights, all attached to one flying craft. He estimated the craft to be about 60 feet long.
Constable Pound made his way to the shore to get a closer look at the phenomenal sight. He was accompanied by Police Corporal Victor Werbieki, Contable Ron O’Brien, and other local residents. Pound clearly saw a yellow light slowly moving on the water, leaving a yellowish foam in its wake. All eyes were glued on the light, as it slowly either moved too distant to be seen, or dipped into the icy waters.
Coast Guard Cutter #101 and other local boats rushed to the spot of the sighting, but by the time they arrived, the light itself was gone. However, the crewmen could still see the yellow foam, indicating that something had possibly submerged. Nothing else could be found that night, and the search was called off at 3:00 AM.
The RCMP ran a traffic check with the Rescue Coordination Centre in Halifac, and NORAD radar at Baccaro, Nova Scotia. They were told that there were no missing aircraft reported that evening, either civilian, or military.
The following day, the Rescue Coordination Center filed a report with Canadian Forces Headquarters in Ottawa. This report stated that something had hit the water in Shag Harbor, but the object was of “unknown origin.”
The HMCS Granby was ordered to the location, where divers searched the bottom of the ocean for several days, but without positive results.
Soon, the story of the mysterious crash at Shag Harbor died as quickly as it had begun. That is, until 1993. As the original story faded from papers and newscasts, several theories were put forward. One explanation was that a Russian spacecraft had crashed, which would explain the presence of a Russian submarine in the area. There was also the rumor of American involvement in the follow-up investigation, but there was no official statement from the United States.
The Shag Harbor incident would have new life breathed into it through the efforts of MUFON investigator Chris Styles. The case intrigued him so much that he decided to search for more details. Styles found the names of many of the original witnesses through newspaper clippings, and was able to interview many of them.
Styles was assisted by MUFON investigator Doug Ledger. These two men would uncover some extremely compelling evidence through their interviews. They discovered that when the divers of the Granby finished their work, the case was not over, after all.
The divers, along with other witnesses related these events: The object that dove into the waters of the harbor had soon left the Shag area, traveling underwater for about 25 miles to a place called Government Point, which was near a submarine detection base. The object was spotted on sonar there, and Naval vessels were positioned over it. After a couple of days, the military was planning a salvage operation, when a second UFO joined the first. Common belief at the time was that the second craft had arrived to render aid to the first.
At this time, the Navy decided to wait and watch. After about a week of monitoring the two UFOs, some of the vessels were called to investigate a Russian submarine which had entered Canadian waters. At this point, the two underwater craft made their move. They made their way to the Gulf of Maine, and putting distance between themselves and the chasing Navy boats, they broke the surface, and shot away into the skies.
These extraordinary events were corroborated by many witnesses, both civilian and military. Unfortunately, the reports were given “off the record.” Ex-military personnel feared the loss of their pensions, and civilian witnesses feared ridicule, and their privacy being invaded. The unusual events of Shag Harbor command an important place in the study of UFOs. There is little doubt that something “unknown” crashed into the waters of Shag Harbor on October 4, 1967.

LOWER WOODS HARBOUR NS
1. On 04 October 1967 at 2345 hours a local RCMP Corporal WERBICKI from Barrington Passage NS and six other witnesses sighted a large flying object. This object, in the time interval of approximately five minutes, flew down to the water surface, floated and sank.
2. the flying object was described as being in excess of 60 feet in diameter and carried four white lights spaced horizontally at a distance of 15 feet. The object, flying in an easterly direction when first sighted, descended rapidly to the water and produced a bright flash on impact. One light remained on the surface for considerable time but sank before a boat could reach it.
3. The Rescue Co-ordination Centre conducted preliminary investigation and dismounted the possibilities that the sighting was produced by an aircraft, flares, floats, or any other known object.
4. Maritime Command were asked, on 05 Oct, to conduct an investigation into to sighting. At the present time one Officer and a diving team of three men are on the scene aided by Coast Guard Cutter 101.

In 1964 a town in New Mexico named Socorro made quite a stir. It seems a craft had landed, however, the reason this UFO sighting is different among the rest is due to the fact it left trace evidence behind and was witnessed by a Police Officer Named Lonnie Zamora. This intriguing case has been a mainstay in Ufology for over 50 years with no end in sight to its longevity.
Thirty-one year old policeman Lonnie Zamora was on patrol when he was passed by a car which was speeding. Zamora took off in chase of the vehicle, but heard a extremely loud roar in the distance which was accompanied by a bluish, orange flame rising into the air. There was a shack close by that contained explosives and he was worried that may be the cause of the what seemed to him an out of the ordinary type explosion. Radioing the dispatcher he turned his patrol car in that direction and headed toward back towards the shack.
Officer Zamora proceeded cautiously towards the rising smoke and flames, the aftermath of the explosion which seemed to disappear and reappear because of the rising and dipping roads in which he traveled to get there. The route he was on was very narrow made of dirt and gravel winding wildly around a small gully. Approaching the location of the shack, Officer Zamora noticed a shining object about 100 – 200 yards away.
Upon first sight he thought it may be a car which may have overturned and exploded but upon a inspection he discovered that it was an oval shaped type object without windows or doors. He stated that the object was about the same size as that of a medium car. Seeing an unusual red insignia on the side he and then noticed two beings that he thought at first to be children, dressed in white overalls. He recalled that the so called children seemed to jump or become startled when they noticed him. He immediately radioed dispatched explaining the details of the incident.
Deciding to get a closer look at the strange scene he then heard a loud roar and saw a bluish flame shoot out of the underside of the object. Afraid that it was going to explode, he fell to the ground to protect himself. Seeing the object lift off the ground, and head towards the southeast it flew in a straight line for about 10-15 miles. The legs that he had seen earlier had disappeared. Having intercepted Zamora’s earlier radio transmission, State Police Sergeant Sam Chavez arrived at the scene just after the craft disappeared into the sky.
Army Captain Richard T. Holder, Up-Range Commander of White Sands Proving Grounds, along with an FBI agent, D. Arthur Byrnes, Jr. were the first to investigate however it was not until 1968 that the evidence from the sighting became known. Dr. James E. McDonald, an atmospheric physicist at the University of Arizona, said that he had learned of an alleged patch of “fused sand” at the Socorro landing site. It seems “A woman who is now a radiological chemist with the Public Health Service in Las Vegas was involved in some special analyses of materials collected at the Socorro site, and when she was there, the morning after the Apr. 25, 1964 incident. She claims that there was a patch of melted and solidified sand right under the landing area. Dr. McDonald talked to her both by telephone and in person. She had analyzed plant fluids exuded from the scorched greasewood and mesquite plants, and told McDonald, “There were a few organic materials they couldn’t identify,” but most of the sample was just sap. “Shortly after she finished her work,” she told him, “Air Force personnel came and took all her notes and materials and told her she wasn’t to talk about it anymore.”
Analysis reports of physical evidence at the site have never been released to the public however An FBI report dated May 8, 1964, notes that Zamora has been personally known for about 5 years and is “well regarded as a sober, industrious, and conscientious officer and not given to fantasy.”The report also confirms the scorched foliage and the imprints, noting that, “Each depression seemed to have been made by an object going into the earth at an angle from a center line Measurements taken by police verified that there were 4 indentations on the ground; the distance between them formed a quadrilateral whose diagonals intersected at exactly
90 degree angles.
Although the Air Force’s Bluebook was notorious for either debunking or misrepresenting cases they looked into, I was surprised when I read the CIA evaluation of this incident as provided by the Freedom of Information act. The following document was made available for public inspection on January 2, 1981.
It was originally included in the CIA publication, “Studies in Intelligence,” released in 1966. The brief, “Policeman’s Report,” was written by Hector Quintanilla, Jr., the former head of Project Blue Book. “There is no doubt that Lonnie Zamora saw an object which left quite an impression on him. There is also no question about Zamora’s reliability. He is a serious police officer, a pillar of his church, and a man well versed in recognizing airborne vehicles in his area. He is puzzled by what he saw, and frankly, so are we. “This is the best-documented case on record, and still we have been unable, in spite of thorough investigation, to find the vehicle or other stimulus that scared Zamora to the point of panic.”
Astrophysics is branch of astronomy that instead of dealing with their positions or movements, deals with the nature of heavenly bodies. Due to this fact, the field of Astrophysicists tend to apply many other disciplines such as Electromagnetism, Nuclear physics, particle physics, quantum mechanics, and a host of others. the objects that astrophysicists typically watch are galaxies, stars, extrasolar planets(planets not in our solar system) and many more. some of the most publicly popular topics of astrophysics that interested the general public is dark matter/energy, worm holes, the possibility of time travel, and the existence of sentient intelligent life outside planet earth.
Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution, and future of life in the universe: extraterrestrial life and life on Earth. Astrobiology is an interdisciplinary field encompassing many other fields such as chemistry, physics, astronomy, biology, ecology, geology and much more. Often times astrobiology gets confused with another discipline of a similar nature, exobiology, the difference being while astrobiology is the study of life beyond our planet, exobiology is the search for life beyond our planet. astrobiologists working alongside astrophysicists having been finding more and more extrasolar planets that may be able to support life, the latest of these discoveries was of the planet currently know as Kepler 186f. this brings me to my discussion questions
Now that more and more scientists are searching and studying life on other planets, why are people who have encounters still considered insane? shouldn’t the public be more concerned and interested in finding out more about our potential intergalactic neighbors?
Whats that you say? Your second cousin married a grey? E.T is in your home making collect calls? Elvis not dead simply playing for the aliens?
In this day and age, Aliens have had quite the impact on pop culture and the media. From books like the War of the Worlds to the Martian Chronicles, form movies like Aliens to Paul, and TV shows like V or Falling Skies, Aliens have always been a go to for the use in science fiction. As you probably guessed by the intro Aliens and UFO’s have had another significant impact on the media and pop culture with their constant appearances in tabloids and other associated media, most of the time to quite humorous effect.
With this in mind, Is it because of these impacts on pop culture and media that more people are hesitant with coming forward with their experiences? or is the other way around? is it because of these peoples hesitation to come forward that allows pop culture to take what few sightings and experiences that have been documented and twists them for other amusements leading people to be worried about coming off as insane further perpetuating the cycle?
This macabre phenomenon of cattle being killed and viciously mutilated is both puzzling and disturbing. Hundreds of cases of these attacks have been documented yet none have been explained nor solved. The surgical-type wounds tend to be cauterized by an intense heat and made by very sharp/precise instruments, with no bleeding evident. Often flesh will be removed to the bone in an exact manner, consistent between cases, such as removal of flesh from around the jaw exposing the mandible. such causes as natural decay, to predators, and even crytpid predators have been used as explanations but so far no one has been able to come up with concrete evidence as to how and why these attacks happen.
One of the most widely known extraterrestrial phenomenon, crop circles have appeared in fields all of the world. With their meanings having been theorized to be either means or communication or simple where their ships propulsion systems leave marks, no one truly knows why they are left. Crop Circles are considered to be extremely controversial due to the fact that it is possible to make one. However, some people who say they have witnessed such crafts touching down claim to have gather evidence to the contrary. Crop Circles in general are wildly speculative and are considered to be the orbs of Ufology.
What are your thoughts on crop circles? Intergalactic tweets of simply some people yanking chains with advanced vandalism?
We’ve all probably watched those sci-fi movies were little green men or some other alien race uses laser or some other type of technological marvel against us or showed off how technologically superior they were to us. the truth is no one completely know how advanced they are. what is know is that aliens have technology that is very advanced and hard if not impossible to understand how it works.the most well know piece of alien tech is the UFO or Unidentified Flying Object, from what is know it serves as a combination of means of transport and acts like a mobile science lab. they have appeared in a multitude of different shapes from orbs, disks to eggs, and triangles to arrowheads. from reports they are usually accompanied by bright lights and make little to no noise. some reports even say that they posses a means of pulling objects and people up to it. despite the many witness accounts over the decades, most government and military employees are tasked with denying the sightings or explaining such things as ‘swamp gas’ or ‘weather balloons’.
Everyone and there dog has heard at least one ” i got abducted by aliens!” tale in their life, if i hasn’t happened yet if will soon. Alien Abductions can sound funny, but most of the time if you actually listen to the stories whether or not the people were ‘actually’ abducted or not they experienced something traumatizing. Anyone who does paranormal research based around Aliens and UFO’s has heard of the Betty and Barney Hill case and how it was the first case in which the victims were able to describe their abductors, who would later become known as the Greys. With all the supposed abductions cases and reports, one has to ask why do they, after traveling all that way, come here just to poke around in someone? what is the purpose for it all?

According to many theorists, extraterrestrial life has come to earth over the millennia to influence multiple aspects of human civilization and culture such as technology, religions, and various other areas. The most prominent example of technology is found in Hindu scriptures as well as in some of the books in the Judeo-Christian faiths. It is believed that several religions were created based upon the visitation of alien races, some of these are Scientology, Raelism, and Heavens gate. It is also believed that structures such as the Pyramids and Stonehenge were built as megalithic structures either as means of spiritual communication or as sites for landing.

I have been what you would call a life long abductee since the age of 4, in 1948. As a child I was terrified of the dark, I saw “things” and “moving shadows”. I had dreams of being taken into strange rooms, and doctor’s offices. It was because of my Father’s interest in all things “UFO”, and my own “dreams”, that I too developed a life-long interest in UFO’s and Science Fiction.
From the mid-sixties on, I began attending every UFO conference I could go to. I also began interviewing abductees to make some sense of the dreams I was still having. It wasn’t until I had undergone hypnotic regression therapy that it all came flooding to the front of my mind, and I saw it all very clearly. I had been seeing “Grays” and “Shadow People”.
In the mid-70’s, I was in a car accident, and after the x-rays, the doctors asked me when I had been shot. I said, “Never”, yet they insisted I had two distinct bullet wound scars that still had minute traces of metal deep within the scars, one on my neck, and one on my shoulder.
In the Summer of 1976, I came upon a man standing in my front room, and I felt no fear what-so-ever. He was about my height, 6’3″, trim, maybe 170 lbs. He had neatly trimmed fairly short hair, with a silver look to it. He calmly told me that he was here to answer some of my questions. When I asked him his name, he said the closest pronunciation he could come up with that I could pronounce was “Ralph”.
Now “Ralph” took me on many trips over the years. Were they in my mind, or physical, you ask? Well, he would reach over and take my hand, and the next thing I knew we were some place else; walking down a long stainless steel type hallway, into a large cylindrical room with what looked like several large flat TV screens. Over the years, it has been on those screens that I have been introduced to any number of ‘alien’ species.
As it was explained to me, there are many different races living in many different ‘realities’. Some races do indeed come from space, and have for centuries, some come from another time or place, other dimensions, some from our very own future, or possible future. I have been shown many different possible futures for the human race. The past is done with, and can not be altered, the future is yet to come, and some things can be changed.
Is “Ralph” a physical being? Very much so, he has been seen coming and going by my friends, family and neighbors. Even by doctors and nurses in hospitals. It isn’t as though he just pops into view, he will walk around a corner, or come through a door and be there.
Over the years he has made it known that it was all right for me to interview most abductees, but there were some he flat out told me not to go and see. His explanations were no more vague then when I was approached by our own Government men and told to tone down my speeches that I was giving.
As the years have passed, the Government has concluded I am just another harmless old fool, and left me alone. But then, my health has kept me from traveling as much as I used to. At one time I actually lived with an Amish family in their little community in Sterling, Kansas to interview three generations in one family that had been, and still were being, abducted.
“Ralph” continues to visit, and I have rarely, if ever, gone more than three months without some type of visit from him. His “visits” through the last few years, though never expected, would sometimes be on an almost weekly basis, even if they lasted just long enough to exchange pleasantries, as if he were just passing thru and stopped to say hello.
There ARE other species who have been here, and there are certain people in our very own Government who are, and have been, aware of most of them for years.
They don’t all have our best interests at heart, but as yet, there has been no sign of some evil take-over of our entire planet.
